The Kachinas are friends and guests, they bring gifts and food. They also teach good  behavior and the consequences of misbehavior. The Kachinas appear to the Hopi people in a physical form, dancing and singing in the different ceremonies They arrive at the end of December at the winter solstice first the villages of the 3rd Mesa (a Mesa is a high geographical plateau) then in February in the second Then the first Mesa.
